
YouTube gets all the glory when it comes to online video streaming. They serve over a billion streams every single day . They are starting to get mainstream, covering live U2 shows to well, everything they did for the presidential election and the often overlooked fact that they are owned by Sergey and Larry from a somewhat “big” search company.
What many people over look is the fact that there are amazing communities all over the Internet that are using technology that is more advanced, allow for higher quality streams, personalized players and enhanced engagement for watching video online. With the continuing influence of Google’s Universal Search, getting your videos online, and on the right channel can open up your company to more eyeballs, thus a stronger brand with more customers.
Let’s take a look at some of the non YouTube video channels and what they could mean for your brand.
Vimeo
Compete data shows Vimeo bringing in more than 3 million unique visitors every month, and this is just to the site itself, not including all the embeds on blogs and social networks all over the world. According to Vimeo.com, there are over 13,000 videos uploaded everyday to the service.
Vimeo offers a free and Plus version of their service. Pro users can upload unlimited HD videos, customize their player as well as the ability to embed HD video. Basic users can upload 500MB of video a week, plenty for the small business or blogger that is looking to have great quality for the 1-2 videos they shoot and upload every week. The Plus service runs $59.95 a year and for those looking for a high quality service for in house HD video, Vimeo may be a great service to run to.

Viddler
Viddler made waves when they introduced comments that appear along the time line of their videos. This allowed viewers to comment on a specific moment, sentence or event in the video. Since this time Viddler is just shy of 1,000,000 unique visitors a month (Compete), they have launched a really cool analytics feature that shows what sites give you the most views and how long they are watching and Viddler has custom players and HD functionality.
Viddler is also the official video source for Wine Library TV .

Blip
Blip ’s tagline is “helping people be more creative” and they have been doing so since May 2005. They host more than 48,000 independently produced Web shows use blip.tv that have a reach of over 22,000,000 people. Oh, and they split ad revenue 50/50.
One of the most important aspects of Blip is the ability to have your video syndicated onto multiple sources through your Blip account. Uploading your videos to Blip allow your videos to be distributed to iTunes, YouTube, Boxee, Myspace, Flickr, Facebook, Twitter and more. Combine that with Pro accounts and custom video players and you have a really powerful resource for online video.
Facebook Video
Many people forget that you can upload video right into your Facebook community. Users can upload videos on their wall, newsfeed, on other’s walls, in messages, on Pages, Groups and many other places inside the social networking giant. Myspace Video
Many are dismissing Myspace altogether as a viable social network, but when you have close to 100% of all musicians, entertainers and celebrities on one site there is still power. They are streaming music videos, movie trailers, tv shows and even broadcasting studio made web shows that are seeing a ton of views and a captive, engaged audience.
