Since Instagram Business accounts were introduced in 2016, Instagram has made it their top priority to help brands and their followers interact and engage in more meaningful ways beyond double taps and follows.

If you’re struggling to drive traffic from Instagram to your website, there are some key ways you can increase the chances that your interactions on Instagram will lead to increased website traffic and sales.

‘Click the link in bio!’
Most brands on Instagram add a link to their homepage and never change it up. But by far the simplest way to drive traffic from Instagram to your website is by including and updating the link in your profile bio. You can change this link as often as you like, and use a call-to-action in your posts to refer your followers to any URL or page on your website that you like.

Run an ad campaign
Another great way to use Instagram to drive traffic to your website is by running an ad campaign. Unlike organic posts, these sponsored posts are clickable. Not only will people who see the ad be able to go directly to whatever webpage you choose, but Instagram will also add a “Learn More” button to further increase your click-through rate. Best of all, there’s no minimum ad spend when promoting on Instagram. You can start with just $5 per day, and then pause your campaign after a certain amount has been spent. To get the best, most statistically-relevant results, it’s recommended to let your ads run for about a month.

Take advantage of shoppable posts
Instagram recently introduced a new service that lets business users that sell apparel, jewelry, or beauty products to tag products in their organic Instagram photos. When other users click this product, they are shown a brief product description and then they have the option to click-through to the website to learn more about your product or make a purchase.

‘Swipe up’ on Instagram Stories
While most organic posts published on Instagram aren’t linkable, your Stories are, provided you have a verified account. Many brands can become eligible for verification, and you don’t even need a lot of followers to qualify. If you don’t have a verified account, you can still drive traffic to your site by working with an influencer who is verified. Doing so has the added benefit of reaching a larger audience that might not be already familiar with your brand.
