To he honest, I’ve never been one to attract the masses, nor one who felt attracted to what the masses were. We could call that a niche-perspective, if you will. Obviously, that perspective is absolutely valid not only for individuals, but for businesses as well. The problem is, most business try to focus on the masses. They want to get as many people as possible to use their products, to visist their website, to read their blog. And even though I’m not a fan of that strategy, I think I can help with a couple of social media tips of what I believe the masses find appealing. These are things that I’ve realized after observing the “social media human psyche”, to label it in some way. It’s marketing that works.
My five social media recommendations on how to attract big numbers:
Short Attention Span
It’s sad that it’s happening, too true to ignore it, and useful to realize it. The fact that our attention span is decreasing every day is something that every business has to accept and consider in order to provide concise information. You can’t go on aimlessly about what you do, give thousands of examples and trust that with more details we’ll prefer you more. You have to be short not because we want it, but because we can’t stand it otherwise.
Be Flashy and Noisy!
Have you seen movies like Avatar and 2012? Yeah, you want to to make you social media approach feel like one of those movies. The more bells and whistles, special effects and famous faces you have, the more people will tune in. You can never have enough famous actors on your social media ads. Especially Ben, we love Ben.
Free
Do I really need to tell you that we like free stuff? This one is the easiest, but you have to be careful. Don’t spoil us too much, or we’ll leave you as soon as the gifts are over. Nevertheless, it’s a great strategy to be acknowledged, and if you can provide some interesting quality with the giveaways, then we’ll love you for it.
Laziness
Another sad reality, but true nonetheless. People are becoming lazier than ever. Therefore, if you expect to conquer us, you have to make it as easy as possible for us to get on board. When we have to click too many times, type too many words or read too much stuff to be able to access your services, then we will leave you. Realize how little we want to work, and act accordingly. Which brings me to my last point…
Keep It Simple!
I can’t stress this point enough. You have to stop trying to do too much. We love simplicity, because it shows the core of what you are offering. It’s the essence, and we love to comprehend the essence quickly. This is not only the most important advice that I can give, but the one that many websites ignore the most. The reason for this is that many times the product or service is not good enough, so they build complex strategies in order to distract us from the real offer. Please, don’t do that, keep it simple. We’ll love you for it.
