A large part of developing a strong social media marketing campaign is engaging with your demographic. Whether they’re existing followers or they’re untapped markets who have yet to get on board with your brand, it is up to the marketer to pull them into its fold and keep them entertained and engaged there. Twitter, being the social media giant that it is, is a huge part in this endeavor in today’s Internet marketing industry. And Twellow just might be the app you’ll need to give your Twitter marketing strategies that much needed oomph.
Twellow, a play at its goal of being the Yellow Pages for Twitter users, is a full featured Web app that allows you to find Twitter users to follow based on niche topics. As of writing, users are organized into 3,157 categories and sub-categories that range from the popular topics like Recreation and Sports, Entertainment, Society and Culture, and Computers and Technology, down to not-so popular ones on Twitter like Abortion, Camping, Dental issues, and Dog Fences among many, many others.
Clicking on a category unveils a long list of people who are either authorities in them, or have expressed their deep interest in them. Each entry includes the Twitter user’s bio, number of followers, and location to help you make better choices. And, of course, you can follow these people directly from this page. Additionally, you can even publish updates within Twellow once you’ve signed up and logged in.
Naturally, there’s a search bar you can use for searching for specific keywords. This displays all the profiles that are related to your keywords from within specific categories, your followers and the users you’re following,
Another great feature on the site is Twellowhood which lets you discover and follow people based on their location. Obviously a good feature if you intend on focusing on localized Internet marketing. This opens up a slice of Google Maps that initially will show you you’re location. From here, you can drag the map and find your desired locations, double click on a state, city or locale. After doing so, a list will be generated, populated with the Twitter users that are located there.
As of writing, this feature is only available to specific countries though Twellow is working on adding more countries for its future updates.

Twitter actually hasn’t disclosed its number of users, but everyone online knows it counts by the millions. Yeah, we do. This, of course, is something credit to the likes of Oprah, Ashton Kutcher and, more recently, The Voice bringing the social media messaging tool to the mainstream market. Possibly even instrumental in making it a part of pop culture.
Because of this, one of the immediate concerns in Twitter marketing is finding the right people to follow and engage with. And by “the right people” we mean quality, non-bot Twitter users who may actually be interested in what you have to say and what you’re offering. Here, Twellow can definitely prove to be quite the gold mine.
